You can use the data editor to add columns to your sheet by selecting 'Basic Column' in the add column dialogue.

This can also be useful if you don't want to leave the data editor but is also beneficial if you want Glide to recognize a column type when that column doesn't have data in.
For example - below we create a new image column and go straight to the data editor. Because the data editor recognizes that column as an Image Column - we can use the built-in image picker.

You also have the option to edit the column type of your basic column.
To do this, click on the drop-down button to the right side of the column header and click on Edit. From there, you can change the column type to any of the basic column options provided.

Making Basic Columns User-specific
You can also make basic columns you add in the Data Editor User-specific. This means that the column won't live in your sheet anymore, but allows the data in that column to be specific to each user. Read more 👇
